Brenton Giesey’s Story

An identity crisis is something most high school students go through, and I was no exception. I was stuck in the rut of the pains of high school and American Christianity when I was asked to participate in SFL. “Oh great,” I thought, “another Bible study.” I ended up going just because I thought the leader was cool. It’s a good thing that I went, though, because my life has never been the same since.

Before SFL, I didn’t grasp the breadth of our faith or understand story at all, or how those things work in conjunction with each other. I was just a teenager with a skewed perspective on faith. But because of SFL, I am now captivated with the concept of Story and am more in love with our Father and my Savior. So often in the church we’re presented with random and segmented pieces of the Story. Only when we put all the pieces together in a cohesive way, looking at life and faith as a story with a beginning and end, can we fully understand why we believe this and begin to apply the truths we discover to our lives.

One thing that has particularly impacted me is what I learned in the Preparation week. Many times we never really ask or fully understand why Jesus had to die. But because of the Preparation week and “The Story Of Lamb,” I finally get it and have a deeper love for Jesus. I can understand just how fallen I am and how much I need a Savior.

It will only take a minute. The area you are about to enter is for SFL Facilitators only.

If you are currently experiencing SFL for the first time please do not access this area of the site. Seriously it would be best for you and any future SFL’s you may lead if you give yourself the opportunity to experience SFL in the fullest way possible before you start looking into the facilitator’s resources.

If you have never experienced SFL and are looking into using it in your area please let us know how we can support you. Here is the deal, if you have not experienced SFL it will be almost impossible for to reproduce the desired experience. This situation normally does not lead to a good SFL experience and will be very challenging for you. Also, this is a quick way to compromise the DNA of the SFL training.
